THE TOO MANY HEROES UNIVERSE


The Universe

The 'Too Many Heroes' Universe is a sister universe to ours, bleeding into our so-called reality. Rumour holds that several attempts have been made to crossover and bridge a gap to ours.

Evidence of this gap is in the very essence of 'Too Many Heroes' itself, wherein this table top card game exists within the Too Many Heroes universe. Created by B.O.H.C.S., it is believed to have been transported to our reality through one of the many trans-dimensional experiments.

The Universe is unstable, quantified as a viable parable to our own -- one without limits and further pushed to the extremes.

An alternative history in absurdum, whilst at often times rather dark, not for the sake of it, but rather an healthy reflection of our own existence.

In the birth of 'idea,' the paradigm of non-existence and simultaneous existence comes into play. A dissonant flux -- where both ideas may be held as inconsequential thought, akin to a flipped coin which ceases to stop spinning, never landing on heads or tails. Pattered cycles of possibility.

The system, the control, a construct dysfunction resulting from the limits of consciousness and the variables of vibrational planes, closed perception, a chronic terminus. Non corporeal, thus indifferent to the whims and limitations of lower beings -- such as ours, stuck in the third dimension, able to be aware of the fourth, yet not exist beyond it.

The Consciousness -- existing throughout multiple dimensions and vibrations, beyond the limited comprehension of space and time.

Heroes, Origin

It is from this 'Idea,' that heroes came to be. Metaphors taken literally, myths manifested corporeal. A combination of something within consciousness and misaligned evolution amongst vibrational frequencies. The concept of a 'hero' is akin to that of a subconscious call to something greater in the desire for meaning in what appears to be a chaotic existence.

These ideas and beliefs are not without stringent irony, when money may buy power, and the wealthy have the means to twist the narrative. Natural selection takes on a new twenty-first century interpretation.

However open to tampering, in a similar vain to man-in-the-middle style attacks, through language and subsequent reality manipulation from both local and external sources -- earthbound and extradimensional -- negative eugenics vs trans/post-human concepts.

There is a simultaneous manifestation in the human spirit -- when adhered to the code, the novel notion of advancing consciousness beyond the singularity.


B.O.H.C.S., The Organisation

The B.O.H.C.S. organisation under the Department of Heroic Affairs, was originally formed as an Hero Intelligence Oversight Committee, to investigate and manage the escalating glut of super hero activity.

Designed with the initial intent as a neutral entity to observe, investigate and report, however with the rapid increase of hero activity, the necessity to take more direct action is a necessary measure, in order to operate beyond simply mediating matters, and rather remedying them.

Several branches have since been devised to cooperate with and/or oversee pre-existing entities. One public entity, known as HEM (Heroic Emergency Management) despite having higher authority, is known to work closely with FEMA (with numerous updated and consolidation of executive orders) further aiming to resolve the consistent issues of politically connected contractors and/or those who are ill-equipped. Their primary objective entails the detailing of procedures necessary in the wake of Heroic Incidents, from preceding events through to the aftermath.

Growing concern in recent times, are unconfirmed reports shedding less than stellar light on the B.O.H.C.S. agency, wherein they appear to be not nearly as noble, neutral, nor clean as they present themselves. With weighted suspicions of a semi-secret budget, with an alleged value the trillions of dollars (assumed assets in the forms not limited to simply gold bullion.) Further escalating it's 'preparedness infrastructure', among acquiring numerous related assets, ringing sentiments of HAARP, Echelon, and particulars of emergency communications networks, among others.

Others suspect that they are not inherently insidious, despite their potential power and growing assets, suggesting it is less by design, but natural given the profiles of the parties in play. Yet the concerns remain on the forefront, particularly with the recent Zero Day Event and resulting mandate. The swift show of action in the climate of fear, suggested strong credence of global power and influence, raising further worries amongst even the less paranoid regarding sub-factions, third-party and secret branches, many without names, barely existing as an otherworldly whisper.


Character Designs

On the design of characters of the first 100 (and 5 villains,) we needed a sense of uniqueness balanced with familiarity. The heroes have to be living, breathing entities, ones that people have seen and met in their everyday lives, a sense of 'I know that person from somewhere...' From this (and the detailed backstories) we created a visual brief for the artist to best express these qualities.

[Bonus] Lethe's Original Card Description

Lethe was the most difficult character for people and artists to grab, perhaps in lacking familiarity with so-called fringe topics and 'alternate' states of mind -- what I had in mind was a visual along the lines of the art of Alex Grey. That said, here is my original character brief, that artists can feel free to have fun and see what they come up with.

An iconic and informing moment from Lethe’s known history: Rising from water, taking on both a simultaneous male and female form -- completely serene, a tabula rasa. Lethe’s arms are relaxed, with the right arm bent and an open hand towards the sky, the left arm pointing down towards the earth with an open palm. An ethereal light of a sun sets behind Lethe, the diffraction of light through Lethe’s body renders seemingly random faces of different races and genders through time, lost souls, or forms and personalities Lethe can assume.

This will include the aforementioned slices of the timeline to be pitched, specifically outlines and points of focus, each portion of the timeline has potential to be explored through multiple mediums.

Current Projects in Active Development

WriteHard [Film]

A multicultural team of friends -- self-styled guerilla journalists spiral out of control when their friend, co-founder and editor winds up dead under questionable circumstances. Succumbing to their darker instincts, suspicions and distrust turn inwards on one another.

Taking place just after the Zero Day event, a tense atmosphere with the world on edge, the populace in a wary state during an election period, turmoil as the media circus goes haywire -- conflict, serving as background static, more noise, feeling almost inconsequential to the personal plight of the characters -- in many ways speaking to the everyday oversaturation of nonsense that we deal with in modern life.

A human story, one that's universal covering cross-cultural themes of truth, betrayal, loss, trust and friendship. Featuring a multicultural cast in modern western city in particular, a more neutral backdrop that can be almost 'anywhere' but free of third world distractions. Important aspects particularly in a time when the world is looking for authenticity and a sense of 'culture' after the loss of identity in the recent decades -- now more over moving towards a closer global culture setting aside pathetic childish differences.

Zero Day Event [Web Series]

The web series consists of flavours of the universe in and around the time of the Zero Day Event, featuring a mix of 'found footage', ads, promos, PSA's, fights, cooking videos, vlogs and a narrative thread binding the content together. With the additional possibility of the content playing out in a 'choose your own adventure' format.

Status: No Longer in Development.

Zero Day Event [Film]

Concept of identity and memory, the nature of reality and an over arcing conspiracy.

Principally following the characters of Cain, Lethe and Digger -- three views of the big picture, showcasing the breadth and scope of the world through their exploits as they're drawn into conflict as the world descends further into turmoil.

Furthering the narrative thread revealing the universe through Lethe, Digger and Cain -- the suspicion that its a false flag operation, in tandem with the greater potential conspiracy and global agenda, but not without aspects of general survival and the deconstruction of language and malleability of reality and perception. Also featuring Soul Sickness' placement, acting in accordance with said opportunity.

The Tribulation of Cain (Series of Films)

A series of films following the exploits of Cain, from the dawn of man to the first murder -- through weary history to the current battle of present day.

The Wanderer (4500 - 9500 BC -- Sumer)

In the era of Sumer under the reign of the Anunnaki. Cain, the hybrid son of an alleged 'god,' killed his brother upon discovering evidence of subterfuge -- tampering by outside influences, his brother found in communications and colluding with a conspiring force of archons, a leader 'The Adversary.'

If anything for his arrogance of action, the immediacy of decision, deeming it best -- what appeared necessary and logical at the time -- a course of action that still haunts him. For this crime, he was cast out.

The Wanderer, a marked man -- with an awareness of living information and a growing awareness of the cosmos, he sets forth to remedy the Darkness equipped with the knowledge of an obfuscated agenda, rife with prospects of portals and strategy of invasion -- quickly discovering the forces were already here -- attempting to reconnect and assimilate, preparing for the Great Re-joining. His hands already bloodied, ready to do what is necessary in the battles ahead.

Alexandria Operation (Egypt, 48 BC)

Alexandria, Egypt -- by this point in time Alexandria was on the verge of becoming a toxic location, starting with the purging of intellectuals in 145 BC, followed with numerous civil wars and battles.

Contrary to erroneous modern popular beliefs, the library was never 'burned.' There was however, an accidental fire by Julius Caesar in 48 BC, not a legitimate act of arson.

It was during this campaign where Cain was spotted -- using it as cover, Cain and other parties were involved, each with their own reasons and agenda, in covert operation to secure critical content still present in a volatile region. The package believed significant to realigning the course of the future, suggested to be a living information. Simultaneously serving as a counter-strike against 'The Adversary.'

Rome Burns (64 AD)

Cain's presence, combating the empire, encounters Nero at an earlier stage, suspecting he's in collusion with 'The Adversary,' that Nero is battling possession, culminating in matricide and the burning of Rome, the soundtrack of the downfall tuned to lulls of the strumming lyre. The plasmate in occlusion, nowhere to be found.

Chinggis Khan and Cain (1162 - 1227 AD)

Cain met and spoke with Chinggis, who communicated with a non-blind God, attempting to commune with the true heavens. Suggesting strength in perception, an awareness of the 'Aliens' and 'The Blind God.' Ultimately indulging in the act of an extreme violence, in the agenda to tame a barbaric and uncivilised world -- simultaneously, this could not be achieved without strategy and philosophy, not acts of random chaos. Chinggis aided Cain in his quest, as Cain assisted in battles.

Metal Band Mockumentary [Film]

In our 'reality' this is a mockumentary, in theirs it is a documentary.

The film will be a mockumentary in the style of 'Spinal Tap' but following the band on a supernatural road trip, full of exorcisms, the crossroads and epically brutal tunes.

BOHCS Office [TV Series 30 mins]

Akin to a super sinister version of The [British] Office, following the dark inner workings of the licensing organisation and over arching conspiracy as a malicious thread unfolds following the Zero Day event.

Medical / Emergency Response Drama [TV Series 60 mins]

Following unsung heroes, rather real people doing tough jobs amidst the insanity and arrogance of humanity -- an unchecked path towards brutal downfalls.

Legal Drama [TV Series 60 mins]

The legal nightmare of authorised heroes -- jurisdiction, prosecution and due process in flux, the integrity of the legal system must be tested, particularly in regards to the defence of high profile super villains.

Eden City PD (Police Procedural) [TV Series 60 mins]

Eden City PD, a recently privatised police service -- setting into motion a series of socio-political issues atop the pre-existing 'Masonic racism.'

Luchajenos [TV Series 60 mins]

Effectively a Space Buddy Cop series, following new partners dispatched from a planet of Intergalactic Luchadores.

Each one of the characters is a fully realised hero from a different part of the world or dimension, complete with background and history in the timeline, created with the idea that each character and bio is a 'mini-pitch' (though not all the characters will be front and centre 'leads' as such, moreover the commentary aspect, such as celebs/politicians/media-types being 'heroes' because they bought their way in. So when the character bio goes up with the artwork it will link to the timeline on the website in the coming months.

Cain sighted.

Nero, alleged to be playing the lyre -- said to have claimed 'Christians' were responsible as an easy mark of the unpopular, when he himself may have accidently started the fire. Simultaneously rumoured, that Nero sent men out to burn Rome.

Cain's presence, combating the empire, encounters Nero at an earlier stage, suspecting he's in collusion with 'The Adversary,' that Nero is battling possession, culminating in matricide and the burning of Rome, the soundtrack of the downfall tuned to lulls of the strumming lyre. Vilified by history, lies perpetuated by Russian and Chinese forces and particular European Interests (and a cowardly Voltaire.)

Additional Notes, from the world of B.O.H.C.S.

The Living Database, meta-component

Following the release of the 'Too Many Heroes' board game, a public version of the 'Hero Questionnaire' (At present --in our reality-- planned to be featured in a kickstarter campaign video.) is made available, allowing people to fill out the details for their own character, which in turn populates a 'meta hero database', essentially a dynamic 'Living Database.'

This information allows:

- Contests, such as randomly selecting '10 Heroes' from the entries.

- Social Media Content

- in the form of infographics/charts/graphs etc.

- ie. pie chart shows 75% of heroes wear capes, wherein 99.9% of people consider that naff.

- or, 87% of heroes are called 'Captain something.'

- Share your hero.

The BOHCS uses this database (in addition to the 'game results') as means of profiling, in addition to a social barometer, and socio-political forecasting.


The Influencer ARG (Kickstarter) -- IDEA IN DEVELOPMENT

What if the 'document' were to leads to a video ... a recording of a transmission from the sister universe, of which we witness a 'medium' losing their shit in a most violent way, spouting 'information.' This information dump is documented by the observers as fragments of the TMH Timeline. The transmission manifested through the now dead medium, a team of researchers operating in our meta-reality ... through the conscious veil if the prison walls, investigating this sister universe.

From this we have three levels of lore and narrative, the universe as entertainment/parable, meta-narrative, higher consciousness/philosophy vis a vis the 'escape' of ideas with substance and meaning.

The latter another level of the stagnation of 90's concepts lost to a toxic world.
